Mangaluru, Mar. 7: A fire safety awareness session and mock drill were organised at Rashtrotthana Vidya Kendra- Mangaluru to educate students and staff on fire prevention and emergency response. Fire and Safety Officer Sri Sathyaraj conducted the session and provided valuable guidance on handling fire-related emergencies. The program began with an informative session on fire accidents and safety precautions. Sri Sathyaraj explained the common causes of fire accidents and stressed the importance of awareness, preparedness and quick action in emergencies. He introduced the participants to various types of fire extinguishers and demonstrated the correct method of handling them. Students and teachers were taught how to use fire extinguishers effectively to control small fires and prevent them from spreading. As part of the program, a mock drill was conducted to familiarise students and staff with emergency procedures. The drill included evacuation through emergency exits, use of fire alarms and assembly at designated safe assembly points. A live fire demonstration was also conducted in which Sri Sathyaraj demonstrated how to extinguish a fire using various types of fire extinguishers. Under his guidance, students and faculty actively participated and practised using fire extinguishers, gaining practical experience in fire safety measures. The session was highly informative and helped create awareness among students and staff about fire safety, emergency preparedness and disaster management. At the end of the programme, Principal Smt. Vidya Kamath expressed her gratitude to Sri Sathyaraj for his valuable time and insightful session and presented him with books on behalf of the institution as a token of appreciation.
